Last monday 1st of June, the Catalan government approved seven wind energy development zones (ZDP), as a consequence of the wind energy decree passed last February.

These zones will be the only places where Wind Farms will be allowed. According to the Catalan government, a Wind Farm is considered as such when it is composed of more than 5 wind turbines or has more than 10MW capacity.

Wind farms will be assigned through a tendering process whose terms and conditions remain yet unpublished.
